International Conference in Turkey (2nd Circular)

  • Sep.15-17 Filed Excursion for Central Anatolia (Cappadocia, Kuzulurmak River, Volcano Hassan, Lake Tuz, etc.)

Participant fees

  • The joint symposium for Young Geomorphologists: Free
  • Conference Fee including a conference reception: 40 USD, 20 USD (the discount fee for students)
  • One day excursion: 40 USD, 20 USD (the discount fee for students)
  • Three days excursion: 320 USD (single room), 240 USD (twin room), 160 USD (the discount fee for students)
    * including the accommodation fees of Sep.15, 16

Accommodations at Ankara

The organized committee will arrange the accommodations at Ankara for the participants.

  • Hotels at Ankara: 90 USD (single room), 50 USD (twin room) including a breakfast
  • University Guesthouse: 35 USD (single room), 25 USD (twin room) excluding a breakfast

Conference Venue

  • The Faculty of Letters, Ankara University (Suhhiye, Ankara)
  • The faculty is located at the central part of the city of Ankara, in front of the Metro station “Suhhiye”. It is very easy to transport from the airport, the main railway station and the central bus center.

Transportation to Ankara

  • There are several direct flights from foreign cities to Ankara by Turkish Air Lines and Austria Air Lines. The domestic flight tickets between Istanbul and Ankara can be bought easily at the homepage of Turkish Air Lines (http://www.thy.com/). Night buses and night trains are available to go to Ankara.

The Joint Symposium for Young Geomorphologists (Sep.12)

In the symposium, graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral fellows could present their researches in geomorphology frankly, and would take international communications each others. The proceedings of the symposium will be published in a scientific journal.

The Main Symposkium titled “International Conference on Geomorphological Processes and Their Evolutions Along Alpine and Himalayan Zone” (Sep,13)

The symposium consist of special lectures by invited speakers (in the morning), and oral and poster presentations (in the afternoon). The conference banquet will be held in the evening.

One day excursion (Sep.14)

In the morning, we will visit Anutkabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk, and Museum of Anatolian Civilizations at Ankara. After then, we move to Hattusha, the ancient capital city of the Hittite Empire. The Hittite Empire is one of the most mysterious histories in the world. It prospered at the Middle-Late Bronze Ages (about 18-11C, BC). We will return to Ankara about 7PM.

Three days excursion (Sep.15-17)

  • Sep.15; We will depart from Ankara in the morning. We will visit a huge sinkhole at Mucur, river terraces along River Kuzulurmak, ceramic soil bed at Avanos and Nevsehir, the central city of Cappadocia.
  • Sep.16; We will visit unique topographies at Cappadocia and surroundings.
  • Sep.17; We will visit Lake Nar, a crater lake, Volcano Hassan and Lake Tuz, a big saline lake. We will return to Ankara at about 6 PM.
